AIPS Sport Media Awards 2020: here are the Writing Categories

LAUSANNE, May 3 , 2020 – Writers, sports storytellers, columnists and reporters: the AIPS Sport Media Awards 2020 are waiting for your Best Column and Best Colour pieces. These categories are dedicated to the written word, encompassing colour and column writing on traditional or new media platforms.
Discover the two writing categories you can compete in by submitting your best work (maximum of two) published between October 7, 2019 and September 8, 2020.
BEST COLUMN An article that captures the emotion of an occasion in and around the sporting world, and that shows preparation, creativity, outstanding reporting and a flair for storytelling. Do you know who got the first place in the last edition? Prajwal Oli from The Kathmandu Post Nepal reached the top with his column “Nepal barely plays 50 different sports, but hosts nearly 200 sports associations”. “In Nepal, a developing nation with a population of nearly 30 million, the sports sector is never a priority. However, the state gives some privileges to registered sports associations through the National Sports Council - government’s main agency - to develop, promote, and regulate the sector.” Find the full article here.
BEST COLOUR A story that demonstrates innovation, thinking, research and is well written with passion and flair, best capturing the emotion of an occasion in and around the sporting world: reportage, features, chronicles and interviews can fit in this category. The winner of last year’s edition was Suzanne Wrack, The Guardian with her piece ‘There was blood everywhere’’: the abuse case against the Afghan FA President. “In a game-changing year for women’s football, Suzanne Wrack’s writing has covered every base: powerful exclusives that exposed wrongdoing, vivid interviews and great match reporting.” Read the full article here.
