Groped, abused - the truth about rugby and women
  • Kate Rowan / The Telegraph

A powerful and brutally honest account of the inequalities that still exist for women covering rugby. Kate Rowan was prompted to write about her experiences of severe sexual harassment while working as the only woman covering men’s rugby for a UK national newspaper and her years as a freelancer in Ireland due to the social media attacks on female broadcast journalists but also the murder of Sarah Everard and the outcry over women’s safety. This was the first public disclosure in the UK to detail the extent of sexual harassment experienced by a female sports journalist. It opened up a dialogue after publication between governing bodies, clubs and Kate around the safety of female sports journalists.
