This column examined the problems with integrity and governance that have bedevilled Greek football and how the influence off the betting industry - both betting operators and their suppliers - is contributing to this problem, which is being largely ignored by the authorities. The story established proof of how suppliers of betting data continued to offer this information to betting companies despite reporting suspicions about clubs both to the Greek federation and international law enforcement. The story also exposed the methods of these data companies backing this up with facts and figures that showed the rot at the heart of Greek football that is rarely if ever addressed in independent media just as Olympiakos were about to win the UEFA Conference League. This showed how, away form the headlines of European triumph, Greek football remains in stasis with the leaders of the game there unable to shake off the shadow of betting and crime.
