FAMOUS LITHUANIAN TRAINER ACCUSED OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT

This publication, “Famous Lithuanian trainer accused of sexual harassment”, tells about cycling coach Antanas Jakimavicius, who during his career worked as national team coach and trained many famous Lithuanian athletes and Olympians. In the story, undercover athletes, previous employees of Lithuanian Cycling Federation (LDSF), and coaches reveal how Jakimavicius sexually harassed under-aged athletes and forced them to use steroids. They all agreed to speak, but more people gave information and wanted not to be named. The coach's position was that these claims are attacks from his rivals. LDSF said they never heard any complaints about coach Jakimavicius work methods. Few former athletes later stated that these problems are common in Lithuanian cycling. After this report was published, many other Lithuanian newspapers, TV channels and radio stations carried the story and Jakimavicius lost his job as national team coach. Later he was found guilty for storing and distributing steroids.
