Die Zeit ist reif (The time is ripe)

Fresh asphalt, 41 pacemakers, no opponents. Eliud Kipchoge is out to do the impossible: to run a marathon in less than two hours. The 1:59 challenge in Vienna costs millions – but is this still sport? For the Berlin newspaper "Der Tagesspiegel", Lars Spannagel flew to Vienna to write about Kipchoge's marathon record attempt and what it means for running in particular and for sports in general.
